Read at your peril

Hello reader! This section is less for actual RP purposes and more as a collection of stories throughout Valarie's life. If you would like to read them, please go ahead! But if you feel as though it would be more engaging for her to tell you these stories herself, then she would be more than happy to.

"I hear... storm clouds?"

On a stormy night, rain relentlessly pelting down from the darkened sky, thunder rumbling ominously in the distance, the scene unfolded on a dock nestled in the lower cities of Moraby. There, a young Miqo'te girl, with cascading white hair and piercing emerald eyes, stood heartbroken, tears merging with the pouring rain, as she called out in vain for her absent parents. Fuelled by fear and instinct, she sought refuge from the tempest, clutching her cherished doll and seeking solace within a crate filled with hay. As the sea roared nearby, she turned to her faith, praying to the Mother, Nymeia, for the storm's mercy and a way back home.'Please' she prayed, 'Please let the storm come to pass. I want to go home'. As her eyes closed, she felt safe knowing that the Mother would look after her. With the morning came the relentless cry of gulls, the sea's cacophony louder than she had ever known. The Miqo'te sat up, unintentionally hitting her head against the crate's lid. Enveloped in darkness, she clutched her doll tightly, finding some comfort in the rhythmic sway of the ship as she wept silently, the waves crashing against the hull. Seeking salvation, she prayed fervently not to drown, yearning to return to her home. The girl closed her eyes once more. 'Please' she prayed, 'Please don't let me drown. I want to go home'.For three seemingly endless days, she endured in her makeshift sanctuary, adrift in uncertainty, her only companions the gentle rocking of the ship and the calls of gulls. As she teetered on the edge of oblivion, a sudden "thud" startled her awake. Men's voices shouted, gulls cried louder, and the ship's movement changed. Again, she prayed to go home, her plea echoing in the depths of her heart. 'Please' the girl prayed 'I want to go home'As the lid of the crate was pried open, the young Miqo'te found herself face to face with a burly, bald Roegadyn. "Stowaway!" he called over his shoulder. "Save me" she said, her strength fading as she succumbed once more to exhaustion. When the girl woke, she found herself in a cot. The sound of voices and the smell of food filled her senses. As she staggered towards the source, she discovered a Hyuran family, elegantly attired yet unfamiliar. They greeted her warmly, asking for her name, but she could only shake her head before promptly fainting again. The Miqo'te grew quickly. Over the years she worked diligently for her new home. The Hyuran family taking her under their patronage, the closest she would come to family for a long time. They gave her food and water. They gave her quarters to sleep in. They taught her to cook and clean. They introduced her to the wonders that Hingashi had to offer. They gave her a job as the family cook. They gave her a name since she could not remember her own.As Valarie continued her duties, she grew taller, her hair grew longer, her eyes grew wider. As she cooked and cleaned, she developed an attunement to the aether around her. As she grew past 17, pots, pans and spoons flew around the kitchen of the family manor, enchanted to ease her work. It was not long before her patrons took notice, a knack for the arcane was uncommon after all. It was not till the Miqo'te's 19th name day, held the day she arrived on shore in Kugane, that her patrons told her of her roots. How the arcane was a mystery to them, and would invite trouble from the Sekiseigumi. Valarie could stay as a child in the Atsume mannor no longer. She would have to make her own way, with the help of Master Atsume's friend at the Arcanists guild. With a modest sum of gil in her pockets, a rucksack carrying her belongings, and determination in her heart, the Miqo'te stood at the bow of the ship, setting sail for Limsa Lominsa, her chosen destination. As she gazed toward the approaching dock, she closed her eyes in gratitude, silently thanking the journey that brought her closer to home. 'Thank you' she prayed to Nymeia once more. 'Thank you for carrying me home''Twas then that she noticed two children next to her on the boat, white hair just like hers. She thought it odd for a moment before dismissing them. As she did so, she felt a crash against the boat. "Kraken!" She heard from above deck. Nary a moment later, she ran up the stairs to join in the fray.

"So. What's next for our humble adventurer?"

"Perhaps. But I believe one of our number- a rather important one, at that- has yet to divulge her plans." Y'shtola teased playfully, her voice carrying a hint of curiosity as she glanced mischievously in Valarie's direction.Enthusiastic responses emanated from Valarie's comrades, and the young Miqo'te found herself taken aback, surprised by the sudden focus on her. Among the party, Alphinaud took the initiative to inquire, his eyes brimming with eager anticipation, as he awaited her response."So. What's next for our humble adventurer?" Alphinaud inquired, eager for her answer. However, Valarie merely responded with a soft, enigmatic smile and a gaze skyward, as if contemplating the vast possibilities that stretched before her."There are a few matters I must attend to," she finally spoke, her tone both resolute and composed. "Yet rest assured, whenever adventure calls, my sword stands ready at your beck and call." Her words carried an unwavering commitment, a promise of loyalty to her companions and a readiness to embark on whatever daring journey the future held.

Opening the doors for the first time

After honing her crafting skills, Valarie found herself faced with an abundance of resources and a burning desire to make a difference once again. Inspired by the teachings of her mentors and the backing of the syndicate, the young Miqo'te felt the call to serve in a new way. With her heart set on culinary endeavours, she delved back into the realm of crafting with renewed fervour. Her days became a whirlwind of experimentation and creativity. Armed with her trusted knife, ladle, and chopsticks, Valarie set out to recreate the cherished recipes she had once mastered in the kitchens of the Atsume manor in Hingashi. Drawing from the rich culinary traditions she had been exposed to during her time there, she added her own unique twists, blending flavours and techniques from different regions of the realm. With each dish she prepared, she poured her heart and soul into the culinary creations, ensuring that every bite would evoke a sense of comfort and delight. As she honed her skills, she knew that this wasn't just about crafting food; it was about crafting experiences, memories, and moments of happiness for those who would partake in her culinary creations. In her pursuit of creating a haven for the hungry, Valarie sought the expertise of a renowned housing builder, enlisting the help of an esteemed Au Ra craftsman. Together, they embarked on the ambitious project of constructing her very own noodle shop. Brick by brick, table by table, they painstakingly brought her vision to life, infusing the establishment with the warmth and charm that reminded her of home.Located prominently in the bustling district of The Goblet, the noodle shop stood tall, beckoning passers-by with the mouth-watering aromas wafting from its kitchen. The delicate blend of Hingan-inspired décor and the diverse array of dishes on the menu set it apart from any other eatery in the realm.Upon its grand opening, the noodle shop quickly became a favourite among locals and travellers alike. Patrons would find respite within its walls, savouring the delectable offerings prepared by Valarie's own hands. Her dedication to her craft and the genuine love she poured into her work left a lasting impression on all who visited, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that drew people back time and again.Valarie's haven for the hungry became not only a place to satiate one's appetite but also a space where stories were shared, friendships were forged, and laughter filled the air. Her humble noodle shop became a hub of community, a testament to the power of culinary artistry and the impact of a warm heart.

Slowly growing older

With the long winding adventure behind her, Valarie finally found a moment of solitude, allowing herself to confront the deeper fears that had emerged during her intense battle with the manifestation of despair. Her mind spun through countless scenarios, haunted by the looming threat of failure, until she arrived at a resolute decision. If she wanted to become the person she aspired to be, she had to endure the test of time.During her sojourn in The First Shard, she had learned about the Viera people and their extraordinary ability to live for hundreds of years. That was the path she needed to tread—a long-standing beacon capable of withstanding the unrelenting passage of time to achieve her dreams.Utilizing her forged friendships with members of the Ul'Dahn syndicate, she embarked on a quest to acquire a single phial of Fantasia, an elixir said to transform one's physical form, granting them new attributes that would remain till the end of time, or until another Fantasia was consumed. Finally, back in her bustling restaurant, she stood solemnly in her kitchen, silently crafting a batch of noodles. Her hands worked intricately, subtly integrating the mysterious elixir into the broth as she prepared the soup. When the dish was ready, she carried it to a quiet table and sat down, pausing for a moment to whisper a small prayer to her patron deity, Nymeia."In the name of the Mother, I give thanks for guiding me through the storms, for leading me in battle, and for the camaraderie of my steadfast companions. I am grateful for all that you have bestowed upon me. As you have done for me, I shall serve as a guiding light to those who have lost their way and offer aid to those yet to be found."Completing her prayer, she closed her eyes and began to eat the soup. The transformation process, while seemingly painless, was profound. As she reopened her eyes, she found herself sitting higher in her chair, her tail absent, and her once floppy, cat-like ears now replaced with long, elegant lapine ones. Her physical form now aligned with her profound determination to become an enduring being that would last the test of time, she sat silently still. With the gift of extended years before her, she sat straight up in her chair, looking down at her new body, taking it all in before finally releasing a heavy sigh."I'm going to have to buy new clothes aren't I?"

Rebuilding what was lost

As the menacing shadow of 'The Final Days' retreated from the realm, leaving behind its trail of destruction and despair, Valarie's heart swelled with a newfound sense of purpose. Determined to aid the continent's recovery, she embarked on a mission that would leave a lasting impact on the lives of countless souls. Her first initiative led her to the quaint town of Idyllshire, where the eccentric and enigmatic Zlohe Aliapoh resided. Valarie had heard whispers of Zlohe's desire to create an orphanage, a safe haven for children who had tragically lost their loved ones to the calamity. Inspired by her own past struggles and the support she had received from her Hyuran family, Valarie felt a profound connection to this noble cause.Upon arriving in Idyllshire, Valarie found Zlohe amid a pile of blueprints, ideas, and dreams, all intertwined in her wild mane of hair. With an earnest smile, Valarie offered her assistance, ready to roll up her sleeves and work tirelessly to make Zlohe's vision a reality.Together, they labored day and night, pooling their skills and resources to build a place where the laughter of children would once again ring through the air. Valarie showcased her keen eye for design, crafting sturdy structures that could withstand any storm, while Zlohe's creative mind added an eccentric flair that brought an air of magic to the place. With each nail hammered and each brick laid, the orphanage began to take shape, becoming more than just a building but a sanctuary of hope. The local community rallied behind their cause, offering their support and donating what they could to help provide for the children's needs. As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, the orphanage blossomed into a thriving refuge, welcoming children who had experienced unimaginable loss. Valarie, with her nurturing spirit and caring heart, took these children under her wing, forging bonds that transcended blood ties. She shared stories of her own trials and triumphs, becoming a beacon of hope and inspiration to the young ones.Beyond merely sheltering the children, Valarie made sure they had enough to eat, their bellies filled with warmth and comfort. She would spend hours in the kitchen, stirring pots of hearty stew and baking sweet treats that drew smiles from even the most somber faces. As the seasons passed, the orphanage grew, becoming a bustling hub of joy and laughter. It became a testament to the resilience of those who had endured the darkest days, proving that even in the face of despair, love and compassion could rebuild what had been lost.
